When my friends Dan and Kelly (of the wonderful Etsy shop TheStrandPrints) asked me to make a travel poster of one of their favourite spots – Manhattan Beach in California – I jumped at the opportunity.
They asked me to include palm trees, the pier, some volleyball nets, surfboards, a lifeguard station, and (of course) the beach and beautiful ocean waves.
I worked on the illustration on my YouTube channel during a livestream (though you can check out a timelapse of the whole stream if you don’t have 2 hours to kill). I am extremely happy with how this turned out. I’m a big fan of travel posters, and this is the closest I’ve gotten to matching their style.
