A big thanks to @strangeshakes_ and @mahtaycafe for introducing me to these fine fellas. Kiwi Jr.’s sophomore album – Cooler Returns – came out this year, and I’ve had it on repeat for months. Fun, jangly indie rock with the maximum amount of words you can fit into a 3 minute song. Love it.
For this fun and ultra-hip Toronto band, I felt a fun and hip Toronto animation would be a good fit. I hope you think so too.
Last thing – when I first started listening to Kiwi Jr., it all seemed so familiar. Some of the melodies, and the singer’s voice just stuck out. Turns out the lead singer – Jeremy Gaudet – used to be in a band called Boxer the Horse that I absolutely loved. I have a lot of good memories of listening to them on CBC Radio 3, and I’m so glad Jeremy’s back with @kiwijr on @subpop
