Album: Chopper

Them Kiwi boys bring the synths on Chopper, their newest album, and it’s a total slam dunk. I believe the band described Chopper as a late night Kiwi Jr. album, and I think that totally fits. Of course, every song has about 3000 words on it (courtesy of lead singer Jeremy Gaudet) and I’d have it no other way. Flush with Canadian landmarks, interesting characters, and plenty of humour, Chopper is a blast. This line comes from the track Parasite II, and it gave me a genuine laugh (though maybe it hits a little bit too close to home). If you haven’t listened to Kiwi Jr. yet – and I don’t know why that would be, considering their last album made my 2021 best of – give Chopper a spin. It’s a hit!
